On Display: Made in the Tech Lab
In October and November items made entirely or partially using the library’s tech lab will be on display in our second floor gallery space. Item are either entered by tech lab users, or created by our tech lab employees. Join us for a special opening reception on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30pm-7pm.

Oregon National Guard Major Reclaims Burpee World Record (Photo)
SALEM, Ore. — Maj. Tommy Vu of the Oregon Army National Guard has reclaimed his world record for the most chest-to-ground burpees completed in one hour, performing an astounding 1,027 repetitions on October 5, 2024.Vu, a medical officer with the Oregon National Guard's Medical Command, surpassed his previous record of 1,003 burpees set in March 2023. Display your artistic talents in our Tiny Art Show! Community members of all ages are invited to pick up a tiny art kit starting Sunday, September 29 and create a piece on the theme of “Something I Miss…” Return it to the library by Sunday, October 27 at 5pm. Calkins were laid to rest at Fir Lawn Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon on Sept. 13, 2024 during a memorial service honoring the World War II Soldier who died in a prisoner of war camp in the Philippines in 1942.
